Sonia specialises in providing advice in procedural law in civil and commercial matters, particularly if a foreign component is involved, and when applying conventions and rules of private international law. She has long-term experience in distribution, concession and agency matters, and in the enforcement of foreign judgments and out-of-court settlements in Spain. She also offers huge experience in contentious proceedings- specifically related to arbitration- in litigation related to leases, to particularly include retail buildings.
Sonia is an academic correspondent of the Real Academia de Jurisprudencia y Legislación, member of the Asociación Española de Ejecutiv@as y Consejer@s (EJE&CON) and has been an honorary member of the Association International de Jeunes Avocats (AIJA) since August 2011. She was the Chairwoman of the Madrid Bar Association between 2012 and 2017 and had held office as First Vice President of Spain’s General Council for Legal Practice, President of the Interprofessional Association of the Region of Madrid and Director of Fundación Abogacía. She was recently appointed an expert arbitrator of the Latin American Arbitration Centre (CIAR).
A Graduate in Law from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, she holds a Masters in Community Law from Universidad Pontificia de Comillas (ICADE). She joined the Bar Association of Madrid (ICAM) in 1993.
